At Beautiful Beginning Birth, we make it our goal to help you stay informed about health care topics related to your pregnancy and your baby. Our midwives begin care with 45-60 minute long appointments that are customized to your specific needs. Prenatal appointments are similar to the appointments at a physician’s office but have an additional 15-20 minutes for discussion about diet, exercise, supplements and parenting topics to help prepare you for the decisions you will be making as a parent. We provide written hand-outs and resource lists to help answer common questions that arise during pregnancy and to facilitate your own research. We take the extra time to ensure that all of your questions are answered and that you and your baby are off to the right start.
Traditional prenatal care consists of monthly appointments for the first 34 weeks of pregnancy. At Beautiful Beginning Birth, in addition to the monthly appointments, we schedule a phone call or an office visit with our expectant mother between those monthly appointments during the first trimester to check in on her health and the health of her baby. This allows our midwives to assist with any discomforts that may arise during the course of pregnancy, such as morning sickness, fatigue, weight concerns, or breast tenderness. As an added benefit, this means you no longer have to wait an entire month to hear your little one’s heartbeat again!
As pregnancy progresses into the third trimester, expectant mothers are seen every two weeks, then every week during the last month. During this time we help you prepare for birth and for how to care for your baby – bathing, diapering, immunization and circumcision information, nursing, and sleeping – as well as how to care for yourself during the postpartum period.
